Lol, I found the King Bomb when I was like lvl 50-something! Probably cause I couldn't be bothered exploring the whole Salikawood. He's pretty easy to kill when you're that high lol.

King Bomb is NOT a main storyline boss..

You don't have to face in, and you're not supposed to at that stage of the game. Even if you beat him, you have no chance at all at surviving the area behind him.
I've been stuck at Salikawood FOREVER cuz I can't beat King Bomb for the obvious reason...his Renew ability. But I have a greater problem: I don't know how to use Quickenings. I've gotten this far in the game without them cuz...I don't know; I figured I didn't need them. And now I realize I need to use them to beat this monster but I'm jus so lost.......its ok, call me dumb, lol.
@Sarah: All I can recommend is to keep fighting monsters in Olmore Forest (or where-ever else you get good experience) until you're ready to take on the King Bomb. Keep levelling up your characters and, if you've got them, practice your Quickenings. King Bomb is probably the toughest boss I faced in the main storyline of the game.

@John Adams:

Good question. I'd assume that any names in Final Fantasy are first made in Japanese, and then rendered into English. I would assume that translation into English is partially phonetic and partially based on meaning. Main characters with names like "Cloud" or "Squall" are probably translated based on the meanings and associations of their name. Names without obvious meanings, or at least meanings beyond my understanding, like "Salika wood" or "Olmore Forest" are probably just reasonable phonetic approximations of Japanese words -- At least that'd be my guess.

Does anyone know who or how Olmore Forest was named? I'm related to someone with that last name and it's a very unique last name. Any help is appreciated.
The reason why bomb king is so tough is because in beating him you get the most powerful weapon in the game: the zodiac spear.
So I've heard. Unfortunately, I'm trying to play through the game without consulting strategy guides, and since I didn't know what chests not to open, I didn't end up getting the spear. Oh well.
