My First Comment

I received my first comment on my first post… And it was spam. It’s rather amusing and depressing at the same time that a blog with no readership whatsoever is receiving comment spam advertising drugs. Who would trust a spam-drug vendor in the first place?

I think this whole advertising thing has gotten way out of hand, becoming the Ouroboros of our economy and culture — Never ending, feeding on itself, always trying to out-advertise the next guy, advertising becoming a beginning and end unto itself. I really wish there were some places in this culture in which you could exist without being constantly exposed to, and thus vigilant against, crass advertising.

  1. Second comment!

    ….

Uh, well, at least it’s not spam.

I get about 50,000 trackback spams per day at the blogs I manage (mu.nu). I had to write my own custom spam filter just to keep the server from melting.

  2. Heh, ouch. I did activate an anti-spam plugin after seeing the spam starting … But in perspective I still feel like a complete newbie to this stuff.

    Ah well, a learning process.
